My work with children is primarily grounded in child psychodrama, while also drawing on object relations theory and systemic family psychotherapy.
Children often find it difficult to put their feelings and experiences into words. Play is their natural language and a way of communicating with the world around them. Through play and creative activities, children can express their feelings, explore relationships, act out situations that trouble them, and gradually discover new ways of coping with difficulties. This is why sessions with children take place primarily through play and creative activities.
Working in partnership with parents is an important part of a child's therapy. Parent consultations take place alongside individual sessions with the child. They help parents gain a better understanding of their child's feelings and needs, find ways to support them, and build family relationships that take into account the needs of every family member.
Common concerns I help with
Emotional and personal difficulties: fears, aggression, anxiety, shyness, difficulties with self-esteem and confidence.
Parent-child relationship difficulties: conflicts, challenging behaviour, emotional outbursts, lack of understanding, loss of trust.
Social difficulties: difficulty making friends, problems getting along with peers, conflicts at school.
Difficulties adjusting to kindergarten or school.
Challenging life situations: parents’ divorce, the birth of a sibling, the death of a family member, relocation.
Physical symptoms that may be related to emotional difficulties: frequent headaches or stomachaches, intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours, dermatitis, bedwetting.
How child therapy works
Initial assessment
The first sessions are an opportunity for me to get to know the child and the family. I gather information about the difficulties that have brought you to therapy, the child's strengths and development, as well as their family and social environment. Together, we explore the difficulties and try to understand what may be contributing to them.
This initial assessment usually takes 1 to 4 sessions. At the end, I share my understanding of the situation, offer recommendations and discuss possible next steps. These may include individual therapy for the child, parent-child sessions, group therapy for the child, or consultations with other specialists. We then establish the goals of our work and agree on the format and frequency of sessions.
The therapeutic process
The work begins with building a trusting relationship between me and the child. This is the foundation that allows the child to feel safe, express themselves freely and share their feelings.
In my work, I draw on a wide range of methods and approaches, choosing those that best meet the child's needs and the goals of therapy. Parent consultations take place alongside the child's individual sessions.
A typical arrangement is four individual sessions with the child followed by one session with the parents.
Duration
The duration of therapy varies depending on the child's needs and the nature of the difficulties. It may range from around 10 sessions to several years.
Ending therapy
The final stage of therapy focuses on helping the child integrate their experience, develop the ability to support themselves, reflect on the changes that have taken place and say goodbye.
The cost of one psychotherapeutic session is 6 000₽. Payment is possible in $ and € by card or via transfer through PayPal, as well as in USDT.
